I feel like with outfits like this, you sorta have to roll with something that isn't jeans for the bottoms because it will look like someone's dad who wishes he was still edgy, like. Like the trainers, stuff like that. I'm thinking maybe it's the way male avis are built combined with the skin texture that gives it that element of "dad". I think if you do wanna do an emo look, I'd advise rolling with a more androgynous avatar. If you weren't aiming for that look... your ideas have been miscommunicated.

Tie + jeans + trainers = emo dad.

I agree that the 'emo' look should have a younger appeal. At least younger than this.
The beard and skin should go.. Maybe consider changing the head too, for a more teen appeal.

I agree about changing the head to a younger looking one, maybe finding a different skin as well. He's attractive but he seems a bit too mature for this kind of look. I also suggest a shoulder scaler here as well, his head is a bit small looking because of the shoulders. I also kind of wish you had used different hair that didn't cover so much of his face, it's a bit too shaggy and messy.

I agree with Lydi - I don't mind the mature head with this look. I don't really think the jeans quite go - that is a bit too clashing for me. But I don't think he has to be a teenager to be more laid back or punk. If you want to avoid him looking "emo" which apparently is not favored per his age, I would change his hair to something more mundane.
